One of our favourite fruits at Bulgul is Billygoat Plum, also called the Gubinge or Murunga; grows natively across the Top End of Northern Australia. The fruit has been a traditional source of bush tucker, antiseptic and a healing remedy for the Indigenous people across Arnhem Land for thousands of years. Today the trees are still in great abundance and come to fruit usually at the start of the dry season in May each year. Some of our smart indigenous people from North East Arhnem Land have starting selling this amazing fruit!

Many of us at Bulgul are becoming increasingly concerned about the use of the carcinogenic glyposate containing weed spray been used on our land. All around the world people are suing the manufacturers of this toxic substance as cases of cancer, particularly non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma increase in people regularly exposed to it.
